Home Made Chicken Shawarma

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts or thighs, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Flour or whole wheat tortillas
  • Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, tzatziki sauce, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, paprika, cumin, turmeric, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Place the thinly sliced chicken in a large bowl and coat with the spice mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the plain yogurt, minced garlic, and lemon juice.
  5. Assemble the shawarma by placing the grilled chicken on a tortilla and topping with the yogurt sauce and any additional toppings of your choice. Roll up the tortilla and enjoy!
