Home Made Chicken Shawarma
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken breasts or thighs, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Flour or whole wheat tortillas
- Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, tzatziki sauce, etc.)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, paprika, cumin, turmeric, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Place the thinly sliced chicken in a large bowl and coat with the spice mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- In a small bowl, mix together the plain yogurt, minced garlic, and lemon juice.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing the grilled chicken on a tortilla and topping with the yogurt sauce and any additional toppings of your choice. Roll up the tortilla and enjoy!
